New guy here. Please be easy on me. :confused: Updates questions and concerns.

Hey everyone,

As stated in the title, I'm a real noob when it comes to rooting/flashing phones. Please bear with me through the stupid questions.

I've started to get sick/bored of my phone running version 4.4.2 with emui 3.0. I bought this phone off Amazon when it came out because I wanted something new. Sammy, LG, etc weren't producing phones I liked.
when the Mate 8 came out with newer software, I wondered what would happen with my phone, and boy did I get some bad news.

I own the MT7-TL10V100R001C00B130 version, which seems to get none of the updates that the Malaysia area phones get.

I messaged Huawei Support, and they confirmed the bad news.

I even tried contacting the UAE support like they suggested, but I haven't gotten a reply back.

I've looked at threads like:

but in the end, they don't help me very much.
I've given up on any hope of my phone being updated OTA, so I've decided to sign up and post here to ask question(s):

1. Is there a firmware I can download/install to update my phone to something newer even if the builds don't match?

2. If I must result to rooting, I'm willing to give it a try, but then I'd like to have Nougat on the phone. Are there stable builds for this yet? or must I wait longer?
