The Samsung Galaxy S9 May Have a 3000mAh Battery While the Galaxy S9+ May Have a 3500mAh One

For the next month or so, the Android community will turn its collective attention to Samsung as it prepares to unveil its upcoming flagship smartphones: The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9+. They're both expected to be announced at a press conference on February 25th ahead of Mobile World Congress 2018, and the press invitation seems to indicate that they'll emphasize photography. As the launch date draws near, we're starting to learn more about the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, and newly released information hints at their battery capacities.

Wholesale repair company Union Repair published pictures what appear to be replacement batteries for the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+, along with replacement parts for the charging port's flex cable. If the images and product listings are legitimate, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will have a 3,000mAh and 3,500 battery, respectively. For reference, the Galaxy S8 shipped with a 3,000mAh capacity battery, and the Galaxy S8+ shipped with a 3,500mAh battery.

It was less than a week ago we learned about major details regarding the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. There had been various leaks about the phones' features and specifications before — for instance, we reported that the Galaxy S9 will have an "intelligent scan" feature that combines facial recognition with iris scanning. But it was VentureBeat's Evan Blass who gave us a better idea of what to expect from the two high-end smartphones.

The 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+ are said to have stereo speakers, rear-mounted fingerprint scanners, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chips or Samsung Exynos 9810 chipsets (depending on region), and up to 6GB of RAM. Both will be able capture "super slow-mo" video in 480fps at 720p, according to Blass, and the primary 12MP cameras can switch between two apertures. We've also heard that the Galaxy S9+ will allow you to add stickers or images and adjust their depth using the phone's dual rear cameras.

If the rumors are true, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will begin shipping and selling through retail outlets on March 16.
