Maximum capacity on external storage possible with Note 4 + Smart Dock

Hey XDA-Members,

how high is the maximum capacity for a note 4 which has a usb hdd connected to it via the docking station?

how high is the maximum capacity for a note 4 which has a usb hdd connected to it via the usb otg cable?

what i want to do with the note 4 and the usb hdd:

1. scenario:

- stream via chromecast with screenmirror (Google Cast) and chromecast apps (MegaCast, YouTube, etc.) over wi fi or hotspot from note 4
- connect 8 terabyte (or less) hdd via usb otg and use as storage for streaming and storage for other stuff
- connect mouse + keyboard over usb cable + usb switch or wireless connection
- charge note 4 while using osb otg, the usb hdd and usb peripherals connected to the usb switch

2. scenario:

- use note 4 with samsung original docking station or custom docking station
- use hdmi connection from dock or stream via chromecast (like above)
- connect 8 terabyte (or less) hdd via usb and use as storage for streaming and storage for other stuff
- connect mouse + keyboard to dock via usb cable or usb switch

as far as i know it is not possible to use a hdd and charge the phone at the same time so scenario 1 falls down to me
